UK Vapefest 2012 is GO!

Saturday, August 25, 2012 · 10am - After Midnight

I am delighted to announce that Vapefest 2012 is GO!!

This years it will be a Summer event. The date is Saturday 25th August 10am till Daz falls over (after midnight). And as usual entrance is FREE!

The venue again will be The Moat House in Tamworth, but this time capacity for 800+ attendees. I have secured every inch of the Moat House and grounds for our sole use. There will be 2 marquees on the grounds of the venue. A hugeeeeeeeeeeeee one for the Festers and one for the Vendors.

Last year I had hundreds of messages from parents asking if kids were allowed. This year, since it will be mainly an outdoor event, the answer is a big fat YES!. So many who missed out in 2011 need not do so this time.

A few things Parents need to know though: No children allowed in the Vendors’ tent or the upstairs function room, and from 7pm onwards the entire event is for adults only.

There is still a ton of backstage stuff to sort out, but i wanted to get the ball rolling!!

Two Lichfield Streets in Tamworth - Google Maps Goes Ga-Ga!

It’s come to our attention that there are two Lichfield Streets in Tamworth, a fact that seems to send Google Maps into a demented senile tailspin.

If you type the full address of the Moat House into Google Maps it ignores the post code and shows you the wrong location - two miles South of Vapefest!

In the map on the left the correct Lichfield Street at the top - the one at the bottom is the wrong’un.

This may be bad news for those who chose to stay at former Vapefest venue The Plough & Harrow in the mistaken belief that they could drunkenly stumble a few yards from the Moat House to their cosy cots.

To get Ga-ga-Maps to display the correct location you need to input the post code B79 7QQ alone. Hopefully your car’s SatNav will be a bit more savvy. On the plus side, those coming by rail will only have a ten minute walk from Tamworth Station rather than a full on 3 mile yomp for the folds of Fazeley…

Just like to say a big thank you to all the people at the mini-meet for making it such an enjoyable occasion and making us noobs feel so welcome.

I arrived Saturday lunchtime and was met at the door by DaveK who introduced himself and within minutes had me sucking on his Icon :D. From there I was introduced to Hifi, Doodlebug, Crossbow, Jez, and many others. It was great to meet everyone I have conversed with on the forums and in chat.

It was also an excellent opportunity to try out a wide variety of equipment, from small mods, to Provari’s, GGTS’s, Darwins etc. and compare the different flavours and vapours available from each side by side. Thanks to HifiStud, I was able to compare a 510 against a 901 in otherwise identical setups, something I had been wondering about; my preference for flavour and smoothness was a 901 on his GGTS tank thing – it was, as he put it, Lush !. I also monopolised his Darwin for most of the evening as I faded off into my own blissful world…. Thanks Dave.

Thank you Jaded for presenting me with a box mod for noobs– this is the first time I’ve had 3.7V capability and the cartomisers I use definitely produce more flavour now :)

Thanks also to NickOTeen (Decadent Vapours) with whom I spent far too long sampling his wares, having a go at mixing and learning a great deal about everything from dripping to what flavours not to mix (stay away from Menthol Chicken ! ).

Due to the generosity of everybody I picked up many free samples, a lot of which I’m sure will find their way to other noobies like myself through the forum and future meets.

Thank you again for being such a welcoming group – see you at the next meet – If anyone is apprehensive about attending these, don’t be – in my experience you’ll be made most welcome, learn far more than you can anywhere else and have a great time to boot.

The Moat House is a Grade II historic building located in what were once the grounds of Tamworth Castle. Built in 1572 by William Comberford as a family home, it sits on the banks of the River Tame. A rare family of 18 Black Swans live around the grounds. In 1815 the Moat House became a lunatic asylum. It is purported that walking the second floor corridors is the ghost of a young girl named Emily. It is believed she was locked in the tower by her father and died in a fire that originated from a burning candle. So it’s an old haunted looney bin - perfect!
